The collaboration between ULMA and Villani Salumi has allowed the historic Italian company to expand globally without sacrificing the quality and freshness of its products. Thanks to ULMA’s packaging machines, Villani Salumi has achieved an increase in productivity to 10 million trays per year, integration of auxiliary machinery, improved logistics and distribution, and product traceability.
Villani Salumi, a company founded in 1886 in Castelnuovo Rangone, Modena, is a reference for producing high-quality sausages. In 2022, it exceeded 146 million euros in turnover and is present in more than 10,000 points of sale worldwide. The main challenge was to preserve the quality and freshness of its products until the moment of consumption.
To meet this challenge, ULMA Packaging proposed the TSA 875 tray sealers, capable of up to 22 cycles per minute. These machines are ideal for automatic lines and medium-high productions, offering a versatile solution for different tray formats and materials.
We had the objective of preserving the quality of the product as long as possible.
Angelo Fabio Albanese, production manager for cooked and sliced sausage products.
Implementing the TSA 875 tray sealers allowed Villani to reach an annual production of more than 10 million trays, guaranteeing maximum freshness and quality. These machines offer robustness, long-term reliability, and ease of changeover and maintenance. In addition, labelling and quality control systems were integrated, improving product logistics and distribution.
With ULMA packaging machines, we have found the flexibility and technological innovation we were looking for.
Angelo Fabio Albanese, production manager for cooked and sliced sausage products.
Today, Villani Salumi has 6 TSA 875 tray sealers in its factory, consolidating its position in the global market without sacrificing the quality of its products.
