ULMA to promote industrial technology projects with the Faculty of Engineering of Mondragon Unibertsitatea

ULMA and the Faculty of Engineering of Mondragon Unibertsitatea have signed a double collaboration agreement that strengthens their alliance and will enable them to promote new initiatives to foster specialised young talent. This latest commitment includes the creation of the ULMA Classroom, a space dedicated to developing knowledge and innovative projects in critical technological areas for the industrial future of the region.

This agreement has an indefinite scope, recognises ULMA as a collaborating partner with participation in the management bodies of the Faculty of Engineering of Mondragon Unibertsitatea and aims to promote areas of mutual interest at a time when talent, knowledge and technology are of fundamental importance for the industrial future of the region. It also establishes the creation and financing of the ULMA Classroom.

This space, located in the Faculty of Engineering facilities, will facilitate collaboration in research, development and innovation projects through two newly created chairs, one in Artificial Intelligence, and the other related to efficiency in industrial manufacturing processes.

The ULMA Classroom aims to promote long-term scientific and technological collaboration, develop R&D projects, attract talent from undergraduate and master’s degree students to carry out projects and final projects, participate in the training of ULMA professionals and integrate certain subjects into university curricula and training programmes.

We are building the industry of the future to continue having a positive impact on our environment from a socio-business vision; we are committed to people, professional development and innovation to be able to carry out our products and solutions from Oñati to anywhere in the world.

Iñaki Gabilondo, ULMA Group’s General Manager

Our primary mission is to transfer the technological knowledge that contributes to improving the global competitive position of the ULMA Group’s cooperatives, through projects involving their professionals, our researchers and our students, who are trained and specialised in their technologies, before becoming, in turn, their future technicians, engineers and researchers

Carlos García, General Coordinator of the Faculty of Engineering of Mondragon Unibertsitatea

The new chairs promoted in the AULA ULMA will begin their activity in September, coinciding with the start of the new academic year.
ULMA and the Faculty of Engineering have always worked closely to train professionals who can join the challenge of promoting a sustainable industrial environment. The demand for specialised skills and the rapid technological evolution require a continuous exchange of talent, knowledge and experience between the university and the company.

As a result of this relationship, over the last decade, more than 400 students from the Faculty of Engineering of Mondragon Unibertsitatea have found a space for professional development in the ULMA Group’s cooperatives. In addition, over the last four years, the ULMA Group’s Businesses have made annual investments of over 400,000 euros to finance research, technology transfer and continuous training projects.
