ULMA Architectural Solutions installs drainage channels in Edinburgh Castle

Edinburgh Castle is one of the best-known and most emblematic buildings in the city. Located atop the rocky hill in the heart of the city, it has a rich history dating back more than a thousand years.

In its long history, the castle has adapted to the needs of each era with new constructions and successive renovations. ULMA Architectural Solutions has participated in one of the latest with its drainage channels.

This project, although not the largest carried out by ULMA Architectural Solutions, is one of the most emblematic. In fact, it has required a specific drainage system provided to be able to adapt to the unique characteristics of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Advantages of stainless steel channels

The installation has been carried out in the lower area of the castle stairs that lead to the towers. This space, not open to the public but a passageway for pedestrians and work personnel, needed low-height channels. This is where ULMA Architectural Solutions has installed its M100 model channels from the MINI family, with the IN100UCA stainless steel grille.

Due to their characteristics, these drainage channels fit perfectly with the needs of the castle. A solution that provides durability, ease of maintenance, aesthetic appearance and sustainability.

Stainless steel channels offer durability. This material is known for its high corrosion resistance and its ability to withstand harsh environmental conditions, ensuring long life and reducing the need for replacements.

Plus, the smooth, rust-resistant surface of stainless steel makes it easy to clean and maintain the grates. They offer a clean, modern look, which can improve the aesthetic appearance of storm drain areas. This is especially relevant in urban or commercial environments where a more polished appearance is sought, and a castle like the one in the city of Edinburgh is the best example.

Without forgetting that stainless steel is a 100% recyclable material, which means that drainage grates of this type can be recycled at the end of their useful life.

And finally, it is a light material with great mechanical resistance, which favours quick and easy installation.
