Hochland chooses ULMA to incorporate a new packaging line

ULMA Packaging has incorporated a high-production compact packaging line for packaging grated and powdered cheese from Hochland, one of the largest cheese manufacturers in Europe.

Hochland Española was founded in 1981 as a result of the initiative of two family business groups: Hochland and TGT. The Hochland Group, of German origin and almost a century old, is one of the largest cheese manufacturers in Europe. The TGT Group was born in 1963 and today it is the leader in Spain in the cheese sector.

Hochland contacted ULMA Packaging to increase the packaging capacity of its line of grated and powdered cheese.

The main challenge lay in the need to incorporate a high-production packaging line in a small space, without compromising the effectiveness and quality of the process.

Optimization of space and operational efficiency

ULMA Packaging proposed an innovative and efficient solution. The implementation of two VTC 828 R vertical wrappers arranged in a “twin” configuration. That is one next to the other. This arrangement made it possible to make the most of the available space, achieving a high production of 140 containers per minute, and 70 containers per minute for each machine.

The VTC 828 R vertical wrappers were selected for their high production and flexibility to work. The machines are capable of working synchronously or independently, depending on the production required by the product to be packaged.

Another key to success was the ease that ULMA’s vertical packaging machines provide for container format changes. This translated into greater operational agility, reducing downtime and optimizing overall packaging line productivity.

140 containers per minute

The implementation of this project exceeded Hochland’s expectations. The production of 140 containers per minute in a reduced space led to a significant increase in packaging capacity, improving efficiency and reducing operating costs.

This success story, once again, highlights ULMA’s ability to offer personalized and efficient packaging solutions that drive growth and innovation in the food sector.
