Aitor Ayastuy takes over as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the ULMA Group

The ULMA Group begins a new chapter as of today, following the appointment of Aitor Ayastuy as CEO. Ayastuy succeeds Iñaki Gabilondo, who concluded his 17-year career at the helm of the industrial cooperative group.

This handover comes at a time of great strength for the ULMA Group, with sustained growth in recent years, a highly diversified business portfolio, and a strong international presence, with several businesses well positioned among the world leaders in their sectors.

A strong track record in the cooperative movement

The new Chief Executive of the ULMA Group has served as Managing Director of ULMA Construction since 2008, one of the ULMA’s largest businesses. He brings extensive international experience, a deep understanding of the ULMA Group’s diverse operations, gained through 18 years as a member of the Executive Committee, and a strong commitment to the cooperative model that defines ULMA’s identity.

Born in Arrasate 57 years ago, Aitor Ayastuy holds a degree in Business Studies from the University of the Basque Country (EHU) and an International MBA from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland. He joined ULMA in 1995 and has spent much of his professional career working both in Oñati and in international markets.
